The Brief

Having tried the hybrid development route with PhoneGap, one of the Big 4 firms came to us to develop their Global Mobile apps natively for iOS, Android and Windows. The apps are to be used by the firm's clients to track and record their travel patterns and locations to allow detailed completion of tax returns and to optimise corporate and individual tax positions.

THE SOLUTION

Understanding their user and technical requirements were the two key factors to success. First, we conducted research to determine relevant functionality and utility. Then, we determined the development approach, primarily using Web Services. Each app was a native development.

The apps functionalitity included:

• Using the device’s GPS
• WiFi and Cellular connects for geo-location tracking
• Using the phone’s calendar application to populate with travel details
• Security and encryption
• Travel recording
• Alerts for non-compliant travel
• Geo-location alerts
